Investing.com -- Taiwan’s Foxconn (SS:601138) and U.S. chip maker Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) are reportedly discussing plans to deploy humanoid robots at a new factory in Houston that will produce Nvidia AI servers.
This deployment would mark the first time Nvidia products are manufactured with assistance from humanoid robots and would be Foxconn’s first AI server factory to use such robots on a production line.
The companies expect to finalize the agreement in the coming months, according to a Reuters report on Friday. This implementation represents a significant step in adopting human-like robots in manufacturing processes.
Foxconn is currently developing its own humanoid robots in partnership with Nvidia and has also tested humanoids produced by China’s UBTech. The specific type, appearance, and initial quantity of robots planned for the Houston facility remains undetermined.
The companies aim to have the humanoid robots operational by the first quarter of next year, coinciding with the start of production for Nvidia’s GB300 AI servers at the new Houston factory.
The Houston factory was selected as an ideal location for deploying these robots because it will be newly constructed and offer more space than existing AI server manufacturing facilities.
