Interest coverage ratio

Interest coverage ratio: Interest coverage ratio is a debt and profitability ratio that can be used for solvency check of a company. It is calculated by dividing a company’s earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by its interest expense during a particular period. The ideal ratio varies between industries but generally, a higher coverage ratio is considered better as it gives the management more room to absorb business ups and downs.
